I don't know about you guys, but I LOVE wine. And I found one yesterday that was great so I thought I would share. Feel free to share your own finds on here. I'd love to hear 'em!
Francis Coppola's (yep, the famous one!) Pinot Noir - $13.99 YUM-MY!!! His cab is great too!
And if anyone is looking for a great chardonnay, I highly recommend J.Lohr. It's usually between $12-$15. SO GOOD!
We went to a wine tasting right before I got pregnant, and the Coppola cab was my husband's fav...especially for the price.
I have the occassional glass of wine after Ben's nighttime nursing now...but I have to admit one thing I am looking forward to about post-nursing days is that glass (or 2) of wine with dinner!
I enjoy the Coppola, too. But I also love Kendall Jackson's dark/ red wines. Sometimes they go on sale for 12.99 at Winn-Dixie. Also, another inexpensive wine in Smoking Loon and Toasted Head. I love both of these. They have a really great taste.
Thanks, I always have a hard time picking out new wines. Often, I would like to have wine with dinner, but don't think I should spend more money on the wine than I did on the meal. Unless it's a very special occasion.
Well, if I put it that way, I need to find some wine that cost less than a jar of Ragu. LOL
Smoking Loon... pretty label. Sometimes this is my only guide to choosing a wine! LOL
Like Rex Goliath, or this:
Screw|Kappa|Nappa. Being the sometimes oblivious-to-the-obvious person that I am, I got out my trusy corkscrew and tried opening it but got nowhere! Then it dawned on me. Screw Cap(pa). Duh
I love that story! Glad I'm not the only one who does things like that!
I have been on a Kris kick--I love their Pinot Grigio-sometimes it's hard to find--and it only $10-12.
We went to Whole Foods in Bham yesterday--they have a great wine (and cheese) selection. I'd never been there before, and made up for lost time with the trusty debit card! They have great kids snacks, too--fresh freeze dried veggies and fruits, etc
Do any of you ever go to Spirits Wine Cellar's wine tastings on Thursday evenings. I have been a few times (pre-baby) and it is very nice. Sometimes, they have special tastings that they charge for. But I think that most are free (I think). If there is a charge, it is subtracted from any purchase. The wines are sold at a reduced price, too.
In today's e-mail (I signed up for the weekly email), they announced a tasting for Wednesday. I am pretty certain that they are normally on Thursdays, but you should double check if you are interested.
This is from today's announcement:
Quote:
This Wednesday, April 9th from 6:00-8:00 Spirits Wine Cellar will be hosting a very special, although spontaneous tasting event with wines from the prestigious Siduri and Novy Wineries. As some of you may know, these wines and winery representative Kate Noble were to be featured at a dinner at The Globe, but unfortunately the restaurant had to cancel their event at the last minute. So as wine lovers ourselves, we're filling in the gap and hosting Kate and the wines at Spirits Wine Cellar this Wednesday night. The selection will include three Pinot Noirs from Siduri and two wines from Novy Winery, a Grenache and a Syrah. The wines will also be paired with a variety of hors d'oeuvres provided by Milagro's Restaurant. Due to the lack of notice, the tasting will be free of charge, so this is a great opportunity to try some outstanding, high-end red wines and speak wi th a knowledgeable professional about winemaking philosophies and techniques.
I hope it is ok to post this here. If not... OOPS!
