I just found this website yesterday- www.freecycle.org

It's an organization that tries to keep good stuff from ending up in landfills. There are thousands of local groups across the country, including Tuscaloosa. Anyone that has something they want to give away can post on the group. Also, anyone that needs an item can post. So, items get reused instead of thrown away. I just joined the Tuscaloosa group, but I haven't read many of the posts yet or posted anything yet. Does anyone here participate in this? It sounds like a great idea to me. I'm all for free stuff, reducing waste, and unloading some of our clutter on other people!

I have used it a couple of times. I'll just put up an offer, get a BUNCH of emails, pick one, and then put the item(s) out on the curb and someone comes by and picks it up. That way, I don't have to lug it in my car somewhere, and I don't have to worry about letting a stranger in my house.

Some of the ads on there are on the bit ridiculous side: "Anyone with an iPod they are not using..." LOL

If you notice, just about everything is taken. One (wo)mans junk is another's treasure.

One thing, they post the email account that you register with. So, if you want to remain anonymous, you need to create an email account w/o your name to join.
