A pair or red shorts just bled onto a couple of other items in a load of laundry I just washed. It turned the white parts of the garments pink. The garments have white parts and colored parts. So, I can't bleach them to get the pink dye out. Does anyone know of anything that will take the pink dye out of the white parts without bleaching the colored parts? Thanks!

Can't help ya, because I'm horrible with laundry. In fact - thanks to my laundry skills - my husband now has TONS of pink underwear

YES YES YES!! I do!! I did something similar a while back.
They sell this stuff called RIT DYE that someone told me about. I have seen it in CVS and walgreens, in the detergent aisle. It comes is small square boxes, I think they are blue. It's used for dying clothes - so they will come in all different colors. One of them, though, is for REMOVING color that you have dyed that you don't want anymore. I used that it totally took the red off the white. I can't remember, but I think it said you can use it on clothes that are other colors too, b/c it only takes off the dye you have put on it (like the red that bled), not the original color. Read the box and see. One note - one box (it's only like $3) is good for one use, and I wound up having to do it twice to get it all out and I had to leave it in for a while. Second note - it says you can do it in the washing machine or a pot on the stove. I did the washing machine first and it didn't all come out. I tried the pot method second and found it much more effective. GOOD LUCK!! My current problem is clothes coming out with weird spots that look like grease. ANNOYING ME TO NO END. Anyone know what that is from???? |

Oh I hate those spots! I always wonder how they appear out of the blue too.
Maybe it's because my DH always leaves things in his pockets. It drives me nuts. I learned to carefully look in each pocket or else our laundry is going to be full of money, business cards, golf tees, gum, etc... ![]() |
