I just ordered an attic fan. I live in an older home and my energy bills in the summer are outrageous. My A/C units run constantly and it's still 85+ degrees upstairs--while it might be freezing on the main floor. I've had the A/C units checked out and they are operating properly. I am hoping that this will better distribute the cooled air...even allow me to turn off the A/C on cool nights.

Does anyone use one of these? Does it work?

I grew up in a house with one, and with open windows, it draws in a nice breeze on a cool night. I don't know about redsitributing the AC in a multi-level home. On hot humid nights, though, I remember sweating and wishing we had AC, which we finally got when I was about 12 or 13.
