Hi Everyone,
I am a new mom to a sweet baby girl, Maya Georgiana, (almost 7 months). I am excited to meet other moms in Tuscaloosa and also have my little girl meet some new friends too. My husband works and commutes to Birmingham and I work full time in T-town. We are both transplants. My hubby is from Long Island and I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. I am interested in meet ups with or without kids and I am also interested in the bookclub and even starting a cooking club. When is the next book club meeting? Kristi, I love that you put this website together. It is great. Look forward to meeting all of you. Cool

Welcome!

Please join us for our next book club meeting! It's June 4th at Panera Bread at 6:30. The book is Life of Pi - and I can't speak for everyone - but I have loved reading it!

I know that we are also trying to plan the next Mom's Night Out - and it looks like that will be June 6th.

Welcome Kerry! We're so glad to have you!
And thank you! I'm glad you like the site. Come on in and make yourself at home!

I am familiar with your DH's hometown area. I am from NY and have friends in Long Island and have been there tons of times. Smiler

Yes, feel free to hop into all these activities we're planning. Life of Pi is a great book. If you don't have time to read it by June 4th, you are still welcome to attend the meeting to meet everyone and help choose the next book.

Ooooh, what's your idea for a cooking club? Do tell!
Look forward to chatting with you!

Welcome Kerry!!!

Yes, please join in on on the meetups and feel free to share your ideas for future meetups. I started a thread for us to post ideas in the Meetups section, I would love to hear more about your cooking club idea.

I look forward to talking with you.

Thanks for the responses. I look forward to coming to the next book club meeting and Mom's night out (if possible.) and getting an opportunity to meet you. Regarding the cooking club, my husband and I, self-proclaimed foodies, really enjoy cooking together and think that this would be a fun way to make new friends with other couples who also enjoy cooking, great food, and conversation in a relaxed setting. Basically, the couples would choose a host who selects the theme for the meal. Each couple would then provide a dish that goes with the theme. If you are interested in this, let me know so we can plan a time to meet and discuss. I think it could be a lot of fun. Thanks!

Welcome Kerry! I was born in New York and still have family on Long Island and in the city, so I've got a little in common with your DH.

I'm looking forward to seeing you at book club and mom's night out.

And I really like your enjoy for a cooking club. I'm not a great cook unfortunately, but I would love to participate anyway.

I am excited to meet all of you. I haven't gotten a chance to read the Life of Pi. It is on my bedside table, just waiting for me... We will have to talk about the cooking club idea more as several people have expressed interest. That is cool, Kristi P and Moozle, that you have connections to Long Island. We'll have to chat about that. Thanks for writing everyone and making me feel so welcome.

I'm so glad that you will be joining us for our next book club meeting! Once you get started on the book it will be hard to put down - trust me! But even if you don't - please come and help us decide the next one.

I'm excited to hear about the cooking club too! I LOVE to cook - and actually to entertain too - so it would be right up my alley!
