I just went to a 3 yr old b'day party and I made him a Thomas The Train pillow. He is obsessed with Thomas, I thought this was a great alternative to the typical toys and such you get at parties. He LOVES his pillow. I don't know how crafty you are but just an idea. Ashley Wife to Jason 9.8.07 Mommy to Ashtyn 2.14.08 Mommy to Baby D 9.13.08 11w1d always in our hearts

At three Anabelle was huge into Dora. She also loved any arts and crafts activities, coloring books/crayons, etc. 3 is a good age to get the beginner board games too - candy land, chutes and ladders, memory, etc. And those are really inexpensive. You can never go wrong with baby dolls, doll accessories. Jennifer Mom to Anabelle: 3/20/04 Mom to Amelia: 12/20/06 Bitsy the greyhound ... our first baby, and forever in our hearts

I like Ashely's pillow idea, but being totally non-crafty myself, I would have to opt for a purchased gift. I like to go small, a book or some kind of art supplies, like Moozle suggested (crayons, coloring books, etc.). My 3yo loves little note pads and pens or pencils or note cards, things like that.
