Hi K! Welcome! I have moved some other birthday party threads into this forum. Look through them to see if it helps you because some ladies have mentioned some birthday party places/ideas in previous conversations. The first birthday is so exciting! We just celebrated our son's in November. Good luck planning it!
From my experiences, the first birthday party is really more about the parents, family and adults that will be at the party.
for my oldest (almost 4), we had a lot of people for her first birthday party, so I rented out the party room in our favorite mexican restaurant.
For my youngest (turned 1 in December), we just did a party at home.
I have been to the Barnyard. I thought it was really cool, and my oldest had a lot of fun. Is your little one already walking around? If not, there might not be a lot for him/her to do, unless you're having other children as well.

My son isn't walking yet, but can stand very well and is "cruising". He loves animals so I thought this might be fun. Plus there will be several older kids there. Now we just have to pray it doesn't rain!
