Here's a fun and true article about the things no one tells you about being a mom.
http://www.cnn.com/2007/HEALTH/family/08/28/par.mom.surprises/index.html What about you guys? What are some things about motherhood you wish someone had told you beforehand, or that you always tell new moms? For me, I always make sure to tell new moms that your baby is coming into an established family - the family doesn't first start when the baby is born. Meaning, you do NOT have to turn your entire life upside down, stop going out, stop traveling, etc. Yes, you have to accomodate and make changes, but the baby will do the same. Let the baby fit into what already works - don't make yourself start from scratch. |

Thanks for posting. Interesting read.
No one told me about post partum. How terrible it can be. Everyone is so focused on the birth, the birth, the birth. What about directly after the birth? I didn't get much info on that. And, unfortunately, for me it was terrible. And I'm not talking emotionally. I'm talking physically. I shudder just to think about that first month. I agree with a lot of these, though - the loss of privacy, not knowing if you're doing it right, counting to 10 when stressed out... LOL - mommy, I think you sat in gum....LOL. ![]() |
