Interesting, though, is that the supposed top 3 safest states for kids all did very poorly in last week's repot about the dirtiest, most polluted counties in the country. Connecticut, Rhode Island and New Jersey all exceeded federal standards for air polluion in every single couny tested, which is worse than many other states.

The criteria were unclear to me, but it looks like it focused on safety laws, like playground standards and carseat legislation. That is all good, and I am in favor of stricter car seat law in AL for example, but those critera are very narrow. What about enforcement of those laws? What about polution? Nutrition initiatives?
