This was an interesting read. I think a lot of parents do this. It makes you stop and think.
Where should we draw the line?

Yes! I hope my kids never read this!!! We had a dog once (rescued from humane society) that turned out to be a house and neighborhood nusance. We kept it for maybe a year. A whole lot of money and many new door/window trim replacements later, I let someone have it who lived out in the country--and liked the dog. I told my son, but my daughter really liked the dog. I just told her it must have run away... it did get out of the fence almost every day, so it wasn't much of a stretch to make it believeable. We "looked" for the dog for a few days, but she wasn't as concerned about the dog as I was about convincing her that I wanted to find it.

That's probably my worst. When she's all grown up, maybe I'll tell her.
