Why is it when I tell someone that my daughter's name is Emily Kathryn, they want to call her just Emily? I don't call my boys by their full name so I would think that when I say her full name they would call her by that. She is named after two of my aunts so her name is very special to me. She is only 18 months but if someone calls her Emily she will not respond, she knows her name is Emily Kathryn.
I feel your pain - people just want to make up their own rules regarding names it seems.
We have the opposite problem. My oldest is Anabelle. It was never a problem until we moved to Alabama. Here, EVERYONE assumes her name is Anna Belle. Two words. I ordered her something monogrammed once and made sure to tell them several times. They still did it as two names (with a Capital A and a capital B). When I called them on it, the lady was perplexed and said, "Well, we just assumed it HAD to be two names."
