There are more and more dads staying home to be with the kids. I think it's great. Anyone have a SAHD in the family?

My cousin's husband is a SAHD. It works out very well for them.

It doesn't take a new SAHD long to figure out why the laundry wasn't caught up or the dinner not cooked when the roles were reversed.

My husband stayed home for a couple of short periods when our first LO was a baby. And since our second, we both work less than full-time (I am at half-time and he's a little more than that). He has a home office and lots of flexibility, where my schedule is flexible at times and at other times not. So we do a lot of trading off and "passing the baby", that allows him to be much more hands-on and involved than if he worked full-time outside the home.

Does having one unemployed for over a year count? Hee hee - my hubby would love to and did great when he was SAHD for that short (for him) period of time, but sadly we both have to work.

My brother is a SAHD.
He works construction so he's off during the winter while my SIL works full time.
Then in the spring and summer, they switch.
She has a flexible job as a make-up artist. So it works for them.

My husband doesn't stay home, but he'd be just as good at it as I am, maybe better (though the house would be much MUCH messier!).
And our schedule is a lot like LawMommy's, in that his hours allow him to spend a lot of time with our LO - and they get to do a lot of active, fun and educational daytime stuff together.
I'll never go back to work, though. At least not full time (I think I've mentioned that I freelance now). This is the most fulfilling (and, I must admit - the easiest) job I've ever had, and I love it!

My DH works full time. But if he was home I totally agree. Jack would be well taken care of but the house would be a disaster. LOL.
I, like you DistractedMom, love being home and freelancing. Sometimes it gets tough juggling a baby on deadline, but I consider myself lucky to be able to work at home and raise my child. Smiler
